Limited G Train Service Due To Derailment

Shortly after 10:15 last night, the front two wheels on the first car of a Brooklyn-bound G Train derailed south of the Hoyt-Schemerhorn Streets station.

Due to this derailment, MTA NYC Transit has just literally announced that service will be limited on the G Train. Here are the complete details:

As a result of last night’s derailment north of the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts station, the following service changes will be in effect beginning at 6 a.m:

• There will be limited G service between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Court Sq.

• There will be extremely limited G service between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Fulton St running in both directions on the Queens-bound track only. Customers can also use the B38 bus on DeKalb Av (southbound) and Lafayette Av (northbound) as an alternative.

• Free transfers will be available from Fulton St on the G Line to Lafayette Av on the C Line as well as from Broadway on the G to Lorimer St on the J/M/Z Lines.

• No G service between Fulton St and Church Av. From Church Av, customers should take the F. G Line customers between Bergen St and Church Av who normally transfer between the G and A or C at Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts should transfer between the F and A or C at Jay St-MetroTech instead.

At 10:34 p.m, the front axle (first two wheels) of the head car of a Church Av-bound G train derailed 700 feet north of the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts station. Approximately 80 customers were safely walked through the 4-car train and the tunnel to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts station. FDNY reports that one customer complained of dizziness and two others were being evaluated at an area hospital for minor injuries. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
