Track Work Affects Babylon & Montauk Service

Earlier this afternoon, the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) announced that track work would affect overnight service on the Babylon & Montauk lines this weekend. Here are the complete details courtesy of the press release I received:

Several trains canceled; customers on other trains

A track work program in the Amityville area will affect some Babylon and Montauk Branch train service late this Saturday night and early Sunday morning, July 31 and August 1. During this work only one of two tracks will be available for train service between Babylon and Wantagh resulting in the cancellation of two trains and a change in departure times for two other trains.

The 11:10 PM (Saturday, July 31) and 12:38 AM (Sunday, August 1) trains from Penn Station to Babylon will be held at Wantagh for ten minutes awaiting the westbound trains to clear the single track.

Customers who normally take the 10:10 PM (Saturday, July 31) train from Penn Station and change at Jamaica for a Far Rockaway train should take the 9:49 PM (Saturday, July 31) train, 21 minutes earlier, or the 11:10 PM (Saturday, July 31) train, one hour later.

Customers at Atlantic Terminal taking the 10:12 PM train to Far Rockaway to connect with a Babylon train at Jamaica will make their connection 24 minutes later than regular.
