Service Alert For Cino de Mayo Celebration

This upcoming Sunday, a Cinco de Mayo celebration will be taking place in Flushing Meadows Park. MTA NYC Transit has issued a service advisory for the celebration via press release:

With celebrations for Cinco de Mayo planned for Sunday, May 13, MTA New York City Transit is the best way to get to Queens’ Flushing Meadows Park and back home again. The celebration is scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and heavy ridership is expected.

Flushing-bound 7 trains will operate express from 74th Street/Broadway to Mets-Willets Point. Manhattan-bound 7 trains will operate on a normal Sunday schedule. Mets-Willets Point and 111th Street stations will be most affected by crowds.

Customers should avoid lines at the stations by buying their MetroCards in advance. Also, riders should remember to spread out along the entire length of the platform in order to avoid overcrowding in one area
