J & Z Return To Broad Street

In yet another sign of transportation getting back to normal after Hurricane Sandy, MTA NYC Transit has announced that the J Train & Z Train will be returning to Broad Street as of 6AM tomorrow. Here is more in the brief press release:

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, December 4 at 6 a.m., J/Z service will resume serving Fulton Street and Broad Street station in lower Manhattan. Since the resumption of service following Superstorm Sandy, J and Z trains have been operating between Jamaica Center-Parsons Archer and Chambers Street, short two stops of its usual terminal at Broad Street.

This service suspension was necessary to allow workers to repair hundreds of signal wires damaged during the storm when a third rail cable fire melted the signal cables, knocking out the Broad Street interlocking. Repairs included splicing in new signal wires and conducting engineering tests to certify all circuits and systems are working as designed.
