Metro North New Year’s Eve 2018 Service Info

Here is the MTA Metro-North Railroad’s service plan information for New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day:

Riding Metro-North is the safe, convenient way to ring in 2019. The railroad has a special schedule in effect over the New Year’s Eve holiday, including trains operating “overnight” in the wee hours of New Year’s morning to get you safely home from New York City. Metro-North reminds customers that drinking alcohol on trains and at our stations is banned from noon New Year’s Eve until noon New Year’s Day. The railroad encourages customers traveling to New York to purchase round-trip tickets before boarding Grand Central Terminal bound trains. On the night of New Year’s Eve, tickets will be collected prior to boarding trains at Grand Central Terminal.

New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31

On New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31, Metro-North will operate a reduced weekday schedule in the morning and evening rush hours, with three additional early-evening inbound train on the Hudson Line:

Hudson Line, Southbound

4:34 p.m. from Poughkeepsie, making stops at New Hamburg, Beacon, Peekskill, Croton- Harmon, Ossining, Tarrytown, Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central Terminal

5:34 p.m. from Poughkeepsie, making stops at New Hamburg, Beacon, Peekskill, Croton-Harmon, Ossining, Tarrytown, Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central Terminal

6:34 p.m. from Poughkeepsie, making stops at New Hamburg, Beacon, Peekskill, Croton-Harmon, Ossining, Tarrytown, Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central Terminal

Service will also be provided “overnight” in the wee hours of New Year’s morning to get you safely home from New York City as follows:

West of Hudson Lines

On the West of Hudson Lines, a regular weekend schedule will operate, with additional outbound service to Port Jervis and Spring Valley after midnight.

Pascack Valley Line:

1:24 a.m. from Hoboken making all stops to Spring Valley. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 1:18 a.m. train and transfer at Secaucus Junction.

3:45 a.m. from Hoboken making all stops to Spring Valley. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 3:30 a.m. train and transfer at Secaucus Junction.

The 12:45 a.m. train departing Hoboken will not operate on New Year’s Eve.

Port Jervis Line:

1:27 a.m. from Hoboken, making all stops to Port Jervis. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 1:18 am train and transfer at Secaucus Junction.

3:00 a.m. from Hoboken, making all stops to Port Jervis. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 2:50 am train and transfer at Secaucus Junction.

The 12:40 a.m. train from Hoboken will not operate on New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1:

An hourly schedule will be in effect across the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines. Three additional eastbound and westbound trains will operate on the New Haven Line. Regular weekend service will be in effect on the Danbury Branch, New Canaan Branch and
Waterbury Branch.

New Haven Line: Westbound

9:25 a.m. from New Haven making local stops to Stamford then running express to Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central Terminal

10:25 a.m. from New Haven making local stops to Stamford then running express to Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central Terminal

11:25 a.m. from New Haven making local stops to Stamford then running express to Harlem-125th Street and Grand Central Terminal

New Haven Line Eastbound from Grand Central Terminal

12:34 p.m. stopping at Stamford, Darien, South Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, then all stops to New Haven

1:34 p.m. stopping at Stamford, Darien, South Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, then all stops to New Haven

2:34 p.m. stopping at Stamford, Darien, South Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, then all stops to New Haven

West of Hudson service will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule.
