Metro-North Christmas 2016 Service Info

Here is the Christmas 2016 service plan info for the MTA Metro-North Railroad:

On Friday, December 23, Metro‐North will be on a regular weekday schedule with 18 additional early getaway trains departing Grand Central Terminal between 12:58 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. There will be a normal a.m. peak, but a reduced p.m. peak after 5 p.m., with some train combinations and cancellations. All changes are in the October 2 public timetables.

In addition to regular West of Hudson service, Metro‐North will provide two early getaway
trains:

• On the Port Jervis Line, a train departs Hoboken at 2:41 p.m. (Penn Station‐NY at 2:29 p.m., arriving at Secaucus at 2:38 p.m.). The 6:15 p.m. from Hoboken (6:03 p.m. from Penn Station‐NY) will not operate.

• On the Pascack Valley Line, an extra train will depart Hoboken at 2:58 p.m. (Penn Station‐NY at 2:51 p.m., arriving Secaucus at 3:01 p.m. The 7:20 p.m. from Hoboken (7:13 p.m. from Penn Station‐NY) will not operate.

Saturday, December 24, and Sunday, December 25

On Saturday, December 24, Metro‐North’s East of Hudson service will operate a regular Saturday schedule. The railroad’s East of Hudson lines will operate on a regular Sunday schedule on Sunday, December 25. A regular weekend schedule will operate on the West of Hudson lines on both days.

Monday, December 26

Metro‐North will operate a Saturday schedule with additional Shoppers’ Specials trains on the Hudson and New Haven Lines. The West of Hudson lines will operate on a weekend schedule.

Tuesday‐Friday, December 27‐30

Metro‐North will provide a weekday schedule with additional trains to Grand Central Terminal on all East of Hudson lines during our heaviest travel times (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). With lighter ridership during the peak periods this week, some morning rush hour trains are canceled or combined to free up trains and crews for these additional trains. In addition, 18 extra Getaway trains will operate on Friday, December 30, between 12:58 p.m. and 4:10 p.m., and some trains after 5 p.m. will be combined or canceled as shown on the October 2 timetables.

The West of Hudson lines will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
