Extra MetroNorth Trains For St.Patrick’s Day

The MTA Metro-North Railroad will be providing 17 extra trains for the St. Patrick’s Day parade tomorrow. Here are the complete details:

This year Manhattan’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is on a weekend, Saturday, March 16th, and to accommodate larger-than-usual crowds, Metro-North will be operating 17 extra inbound trains in addition to the regular Saturday schedule.

Metro-North is a popular way to get to the parade, which begins at 11 a.m. at 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, just two blocks from Grand Central Terminal.

Please note: On Saturday, March 16th, alcohol will not be allowed all day on trains, platforms and at stations. MTA Police will enforce this restriction.

And after the celebration, there will be additional outbound trains on all three lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven.

There also will be extra cars on a select number of regularly scheduled inbound and outbound trains to ensure everyone gets to “go green” on time.

Customers are strongly urged to buy round-trip rail tickets before boarding at ticket machines and ticket offices. The costs for tickets purchased on board trains are significantly higher.

And at Poughkeepsie, New Hamburg, Beacon and New Haven where parade ridership is especially high, tickets will be collected prior to boarding. Customers MUST buy a round-trip ticket in advance at ticket machines and ticket offices. Customers will not be allowed on platforms without a ticket.
