New LIRR Timetables Start September 8th

I apologize for this oversight but a few days ago, MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) sent out a press release to announce new timetables would start on September 8th. The new timetables include changes made due to upcoming construction & track projects. Here are the complete details:

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables will take effect beginning Tuesday, September 8. The new timetables include some midday weekday and weekend train schedule revisions due to track work and construction programs. In addition, on the weekend of October 24 and 25 an interlocking replacement program in the Valley Stream area will have major service impacts for customers on several branches including the Babylon/Montauk, Long Beach, Far Rockaway and West Hempstead Branches. Special timetables will be in effect on that weekend. A future news release will provide further details of this project.

September 8-November 8 Timetables:

Port Jefferson & Ronkonkoma Branches: One of two main tracks between Carle Place and Hicksville will be out of service midday weekdays for track work and renewal of the Urban Avenue grade crossing in New Cassel. To accommodate the work, the 11:48 AM eastbound train from Huntington and the 11:37 AM westbound train from Port Jefferson will be temporarily canceled. Departure times for other Port Jefferson Branch trains will be adjusted to provide two-hour midday service between Huntington and Port Jefferson. Five eastbound midday weekday Huntington trains will depart 12 minutes later.

Six westbound midday weekday Ronkonkoma trains will depart 30 minutes later. The 11:42 AM westbound train from Greenport will depart 30 minutes earlier. Various midday weekday trains on the Far Rockaway, Long Beach, Oyster Bay and West Hempstead Branches will have schedule adjustments of between one and three minutes.

Babylon Branch: One of two main tracks will be out of service between Rockville Centre and Freeport for track work. Midday weekday trains will have schedule adjustments of between one and two minutes.

Montauk Branch: The single main track between Patchogue and Speonk will be out of service on weekdays for track tie replacement and grade crossing renewal work at Bay Avenue, Seatuck Road, Moriches Blvd. and Dunton Avenue. Buses will replace four midday trains between Patchogue and Speonk. Eastbound customers traveling to stations east of Speonk will take buses to Speonk, then transfer to trains to complete their trips.

Westbound customers traveling from stations Montauk to Westhampton will take trains from their stations and transfer to buses at Speonk, than transfer back to trains at Patchogue to complete their trips. Weekend of October 17-18- Buses will replace trains between Babylon and Speonk this weekend because of a track work program. Further details will be provided in a future news release.

Oyster Bay Branch: One of two main tracks between East Williston and Locust Valley will be out of service midday weekdays for construction of a retaining wall at Roslyn Road. The 12:12 PM train from Jamaica (due Oyster Bay at 1:08 PM) and the 1:32 PM train from Oyster Bay (due Jamaica at 2:28 PM) will be canceled while the work is underway.
