Woman Killed After Being Struck By A Q Train

Sometimes stories slip through the cracks & this one qualifies for that distinction. My sister e-mailed me the story of a woman who died after being struck by a train. She wondered if I had heard about the story to share on the blog. I did not so, I thank her for the unfortunate story. Here is the brief report on the incident courtesy of WCBS 880:

New York City police say a woman has been struck and killed by a subway train in Brooklyn.

Authorities say the woman was hit by a southbound Q train shortly before 3:30 a.m. Thursday at East 16th Street and Beverly Road in the Flatbush neighborhood.

Police are investigating but don’t suspect criminality.

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokeswoman says southbound service on the Q line is operating on the N line between DeKalb and Stillwell avenues.

I have not heard or read any other details as to how this unfolded. If I come across more, I will post about it.

A friend’s daughter was hit and killed by a train Jan 14, 2010 at the Atlantic Ave station in Brooklyn. I also feel like this is a noteworthy story. There was foul play and the police are still investigating, although they tried to call it an accident and it was not until the parents pushed on the police after doing some of there own investigating of the station platform. She was found with nothing on her, her purse was found far away from her empty and there were bruises on her that the coroner said were not inflicted by the train. Why have we not heard about this? Why is this story buried? A man was hit and killed at the same station yesterday, Jan 24 2010 as well.

I am an acquaintance of the family who lost there daughter in this accident. We (the high school friends of the young woman) never found an article about this accident. Are the lines trying to hush it up? It seems people depending on this transportation should be warned!
